
What the writer publishes is at best, a bold conjecture supported with fact. At worst, it’s an opinion.
The comments section are a healthy way of reminding oneself that after reading the author's thoughts, you can ground it to reality with the comments. If they have a vibrant community or an engaging audience, someone will challenge the idea.
You control your confirmation bias by going through the comments. And you don't need to read all the comments. A few dissenting perspectives is enough.
